Balance is Important for Every Shot
All shots require balance, but sometimes, in our attempts to get the ball in the air, we hang back as we swing the club. Hanging back is a quick way to a fat or skulled shot that leads players to a loss of confidence in those delicate lofted shots around the green.
In the first photo, you see me staying back behind the ball with poor balance.
The second shows me in a much more balanced position.
Next time you practice your short wedge shots around the green, concentrate on how your body finishes for quick positive results.
Just like tossing a ball underhand, the correct in-balance position of the body will have the head, eyes and spine completely transferred over the front foot.
Good balance means a good weight shift, which means good shots.
