Be a Bidder
By Sarah A. Cart
Did you find it? THE catalog? Inserted in today’s Ocean Reef Press?
That means it’s time – get out your Post-It notes and Hi-Liters. While the photos and write-ups throughout are wonderful, however, remember that next weekend you can see most of these items in person here on The Reef.
So if you haven’t already, contact the All Charities office to reserve your time slot to visit the ingeniously socially-distanced display of Auction items at Town Hall between 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. Come taste the wine and vote on the Members Choice selections to appear on the Club’s menus for the 2021-2022 season. And if Friday doesn’t work, or if you’re curious to see something again, you can visit Town Hall between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday. As a bonus, Lester Lampert Jewellers will be at Town Hall throughout the weekend with 20 percent of all sales donated back to All Charities.
Not here on The Reef? You can still bid from anywhere you have access to WiFi. Not yet registered for a bid number? No problem. Visit bidORC.org and follow the prompts; your bid number will appear in your inbox shortly thereafter and throughout continue to pursue your dream
item(s).
And don’t forget, this Monday Feb. 15 is the deadline to opt in (just $1,000) for one of only 500 Patron level (or higher) chances to take title to (that’s right: own, not lease!) the 2021 Lexus RX 350.
See something here that you cannot live without? Give the All Charities office a call (305- 367-5996) to ask for the BUY IT NOW PRICE.
Your active and generous participation from the moment the online auction goes “live” at 9 a.m. today up through the final drop of the gavel (virtually) at 9:30 p.m. for Showcase and 10 p.m. for all other categories Saturday, Feb. 20, will be appreciated more now, more than ever.
One other task: Late next week All Charities will send out the link for Saturday’s 6:45 – 7:30 p.m. Virtual Gala via email. While you can enjoy fellow Social Member Jimmy Buffett and fully participate from your iPhone, tablet or computer, it’s easy to connect to your television if you’d rather a big screen experience. Try the following steps today or early in the week so you can call ProTech (305-453-0010 or 305-367-2700) or Al’s WiFi (305-257-9434) if you have questions.
If you have a Smart TV, marry it to the device you will be using to access the Virtual Gala link. Be sure your TV is connected to WiFi and Bluetooth is enabled. Then go to your set-up wizard (Apple AirPlay or Google ChromeCast) and follow the prompts. If you have an older TV, connect one end of an HDMI cable to one of the video feed outlets on the side or back (noting its HDMI number), plug the other end into your computer, then use the Xfinity remote “TV Input” button to toggle to that HDMI feed number. In either case, once properly connected, your TV will simply duplicate the screen on your device. Again: Questions? Give ProTech or Al’s WiFi a call.
Basically, participation in All Charities 2021 comes down to the Three R’s:
• Register – At bidorc.org so you are ready with your paddle number
• Reserve – Your spot for the Friday Night Wine Tasting Event
• Raise – Your Paddle for All Charities and do More Now, More than Ever
Specifics on how to raise your paddle during Saturday’s remarkable program will appear in next Friday’s Ocean Reef Press.
Please know your generous support of the auction strengthens the entities that enhance Ocean Reef’s Unique Way of Life – Medical Center, Academy, Cultural Center, Conservation Association, ORCAT and Art League – and enables the Ocean Reef Community Foundation to fulfill its mission to the benefit of thousands in Key Largo, Homestead and Florida City. To those ends, All Charities has united the Ocean Reef community and raised over $40 million since 2008.
Questions? Contact Lesa Crayne or Amy Cornaire in the All Charities office by calling 305-367-5963 or emailing allcharities@oceanreef.com. Special thanks to ProTech.
Featured above: The All Charities “Cheers!” category has made a significant impact and been a prominent feature of the Auction for many seasons, and the lots for 2021 are
particularly stunning. For the pleasure of attendees at the Friday, Feb. 19, Opening
Night and Wine Tasting, this year’s wine committee has created the All Charities
Wine & Spirits Shop, a reproduction of a European wine cellar complete with
knowledgeable wine couriers and filled with premier wines and spirits. Thank you
to (pictured here) Madeleine Williams, Karen DiMaura, Joanna Silverman, Christy
Sheehan and Diane Steinhilber as well as Barbara Sutton, Debbie Hartmann, Laura
Zausmer and Bonnie Covington for their enthusiasm!
