Beyond the Two Visit Rule
by Jody Steele
We all know how marvelous it is to have our friends and extended family visit Ocean Reef Club. As there are plenty of activities for all ages available during every month of the year, it is obvious that many want to come back for more and experience the joy of our “unique way of life”.
Two Visits
However, the “two visit rule” limits guest visits to two times in a period of five years with a maximum visit of 14 days each visit. This does not include Members’ children, 23 years and younger, or accompanied house guests visiting while you are in residence.
What Next?
So what do you do when a dear friend or family member wants to return and they have had two visits within the five-year period? It is probably then best to share that Ocean Reef Club is a private club with amazing membership opportunities and lots of benefits. A simple explanation noting the privilege of having one’s own membership card and access to all Club amenities, discounts on Ocean Reef Club lodging rentals, dining, and preferred rates for golf, dockage, and cart rental are all perks worth mentioning. The complimentary use of tennis, pickleball and croquet courts is another plus. The list really goes on and on depending on what someone finds appropriate for their lifestyle.
Reaching Out
As Members for almost 20 years now, we often get the question on what we actually do at Ocean Reef. We find that if someone visits for a few days or even a week, they only get a glimpse of what is offered. An afternoon at Buccaneer, a golf game, and a delicious dinner at one of our fine restaurants is a mere sample. We find sharing This Week at The Reef, the Ocean Reef Press, or a list of Clubs within the Club helps explain the offerings for a wide variety of interests. Another question we get frequently, even from Members, is what is it like in the summer? That always gives us a chuckle as we have lived in South Florida for over 40 years, which is a lot of summers and Hurricane Seasons. We love to talk about the Unique Summer Camps for our grandchildren, the fact we have a gorgeous summer breeze from the Atlantic Ocean, and delightfully note that the snorkeling is outstanding. We stress the fact that we never run out of activities to choose from, but always share how lovely it is to just relax and do nothing except catch a Keys sunset.
Carry On…
After a conversation or two about what is beyond being a guest at the Club, we feel the best recommendation is to connect the friend or family member to our Membership Office (membership@oceanreef.com , 305-367-5921). Our Membership Managers work privately with prospective members to explore the various membership opportunities available. We find the extensive tour and meeting with a Membership Manager is the most professional and comprehensive way to introduce prospective Members to the Club, even if they have experienced it with us.
All in all, the privilege to explain and extend the choice of membership to family and friends is an opportunity to create more memories at Ocean Reef Club with those you hold dear.
