Capital Projects Progress
The commencement of all three major capital projects, the Ocean Room/Lobby and Clubhouse renovations and construction of an Associate Parking Garage, highlight the bright future for Ocean Reef Club.
Contract Awarded for Ocean Room/Lobby Renovation
Following a competitive bid process, Woolems was awarded the renovation contract at a negotiated fixed price. Demolition work has been completed and over the next four weeks, procurement, repairs to the structural elements of the building and interior framing will be well underway.
HBA, the design firm that brought the Islander back to life after Hurricane Irma, will be handling the interior design. The Ocean Room, Reef Lounge/Harper’s Bar and the entire Lobby area is being redesigned with a fresh coastal look that will preserve and enhance the history of one of Ocean Reef Club’s oldest buildings.
In the meantime, all Front Desk operations, Bellstand and Transportation have been relocated to Carysfort Hall. The Gift Shop remains in its original location next to the Inn Lobby and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Clubhouse Renovation Update
The temporary Golf Shop and Cart Barn are in place and the Golf team has been welcoming Members to their new spaces. It is anticipated that the construction contract will be awarded this week with construction slated to begin Monday, June 29.
Associate Parking Garage Progressing
The Associate Parking Garage continues on schedule with an anticipated completion date of November 2020. Over the next four weeks, foundation piles and footings will progress significantly and the drainage system will be completed. Work on the new roadway will also start. This impacts traffic flow within the Associate area but does not extend out to the main roads.
The garage will provide an additional 400 parking spaces to be used by Associates, which will free up parking in Member areas. The playground will be relocated to the Nature Center area in mid-July and the basketball court will be replaced in the late fall.
