Capital Projects Underway

As facilities begin to slowly reopen, life at Ocean Reef is showing signs of normalcy. Construction on the Club’s major 2020-2021 projects – the Associate Parking Garage, Ocean Room renovation and Clubhouse renovation – are well underway and Members have exciting developments to look forward to at The Reef over the next several months.

The Club has created a communications plan to keep Members informed throughout the duration of these major renovations. By now, you have likely had the chance to review the Club’s Capital Projects brochure that was mailed to all Members at the end of April, containing details on these projects. In a few weeks, Members will also receive the first of a monthly digital newsletter that will contain new photos, progress news and other announcements. Similar reports will continue to be published in the Ocean Reef Press and the Club’s website will be regularly updated with photos.

“While our focus over the past few months has been the safety and welfare of the Community (and will continue to be), the ability to commence these projects, as scheduled, provides a sense of stability and progress,” said Ocean Reef Club President Alex Tonarelli. “We are looking ahead to an exciting future for your Club.”

Associate Parking Garage
The Associate Parking Garage is scheduled to be completed by mid-November 2020. Currently, the site has been cleared and it is being prepped for construction to begin. The garage will provide an additional 400 parking spaces to be used by Associates, which will free up parking in Member areas. The playground will be relocated to the Nature Center area in mid-July and the basketball court will be replaced in the late Fall.

Ocean Room Renovation
The Ocean Room and Inn Lobby renovation is projected to be completed by late November 2020. In the meantime, all Front Desk operations, Bellstand and Transportation have been relocated to Carysfort Hall and breakfast items are available daily at Reef Hut. The Gift Shop remains in its original location next to the Inn Lobby and is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Clubhouse Renovation
The Clubhouse renovation project has commenced with a planned completion date of November 2021. You may have already noticed that Golf operations and the Golf Shop have relocated to the practice putting green for the duration of construction. The Golf Shop is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
