Captivating Garden Tours
by Jody Steele
Looking for a special outdoor activity at The Reef? As you drive by the Water Garden or Greenberg Park, you might get a fleeting glance of tropical splendor or a brief view of a remarkable vista. Designed by Raymond Jungles, award winning Landscape Architect, both gardens are splendid examples of an innovative and timeless connection with nature. The goal is “to entice participation and soothe the psyche”; certainly needed during these challenging times.
In order to really appreciate the expanse and variety of the plantings at the Water Garden and Greenberg Park, it is important to experience these gardens up close with an expert. Corine Ferre, Landscape Designer, Horticulturist, and Arborist with Brightview Landscaping is presently available to give some socially distanced garden tours. She is an outstanding guide that will point out native and nonnative species, explain why they were chosen for the gardens, and answer all your questions.
Both are walking tours that run close to an hour, so it is important for participants to wear comfortable shoes, sun hats, and apply sunscreen beforehand. Masks are also required. It really is a light and beautiful stroll where you will learn more about our tropical paradise.
Tours are limited and are complimentary. Dates can be scheduled by emailing Corine at Corine.Ferre@brightview.com or by calling ORCA Public Works at 305 367 7321 to make reservations. Reservations must include at least five participants. All tours begin at either Greenberg Park or the Water Garden promptly at 10 AM. Parking is limited to golf carts only.
