Born in Paris, Alexandre “Alex” Mabred developed a passion and talent for tennis at an early age. In 1996, he earned his first scholarship to the prestigious Palmer Tennis Academy in Tampa, Florida, where he trained under renowned coach Sam Sumyk, who has coached WTA champions such as Victoria Azarenka and Garbiñe Muguruza. Alex continued his athletic journey with a scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, an NCAA Division I institution. There, he excelled as the top player on the tennis team during his senior year and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Upon returning to the United States, Alex served as Head Tennis Professional at the Bay Head Yacht Club in New Jersey before joining the Rhinebeck Tennis Club in New York’s Hudson Valley. It was in Rhinebeck that Alex discovered pickleball and quickly became captivated by the sport. After competing in—and winning—his second tournament in 2021, he earned his pickleball teaching certification and began coaching both tennis and pickleball and decided to move back to Florida.
Most recently, Alex enjoyed a successful tenure at Orchid Island in Vero Beach before relocating to the Florida Keys to join Ocean Reef Club as a pickleball coach. Accompanied by his wife, Agathe, and their 4-year-old son, Zion-Joy, Alex is passionate about sharing his love for pickleball—a sport he describes as transformative and community-driven. Whether working with beginners or seasoned players, Alex is committed to providing top-tier coaching and aspires to establish himself as an elite pickleball professional in Florida.
Alex offers private lessons, semi-private sessions, and clinics from Monday through Saturday. He invites clients to experience the joy and camaraderie of pickleball under his expert guidance.
