Summer Reunion
Legacy Members, who have a family history of enjoying the Club, are often the most enthusiastic rooters for everything ORC. Legacy Member Kerry Shannon, the daughter of longtime Equity Member Connie McAllister, has been coming to Ocean Reef since she was a little girl. Later she came with her own children for all the important holidays.
Kerry was surprised how many of the friends she made at Ocean Reef, lived near her home in Far Hills, NJ. “I actually met one woman, who lived right across the street from me.”
This group of Legacy and Equity Members of ORC soon discovered a lot of shared interests – golf, pickleball, fishing, the Chapel. “And, of course,” said Kerry, “Everton and Reef Cups.”
So early this summer, when all of her OR/NJ buddies had returned to their respective New Jersey lives, Kerry Shannon decided it was time for a reunion.
Not given to half measures, Kerry planned a patio lunch for nine, including her mother, and proceeded to decorate her garden and home in Far Hills, NJ with Ocean Reef burgees and pillows. There were also OR glasses, napkins and nautical table arrangements. “I even imported a Key Lime Dockside Cake,” said Kerry.
Was it a success? Absolutely! “We had a wonderful time meeting other Members and sharing our love of Ocean Reef Club.”
